Annual Faith Service for the Legal Profession and the Judiciary – 11 March 2024

The Honourable Chief Justice Helen Bowskill has stated:
“For many years, the Supreme Court has organised an annual church service which was connected with the Opening of the Law Year. A review of the church service was undertaken during 2023. This included consultation with members of the judiciary and the legal profession, through the Bar Association of Queensland and the Queensland Law Society, as well as a consideration of the history of the tradition. Following that review, it was decided the Court would continue to organise an adapted form of this service, to be called the Annual Faith Service for the Legal Profession and the Judiciary. Consistent with its history, this is intended to be an inclusive opportunity for faith organisations to pray for and/or show support for judicial officers and lawyers, for judicial officers and lawyers who wish to participate to take the opportunity for reflection and renewal; and for engagement with the community. All members of the Bar Association are invited to attend.”
The Annual Faith Service for the Legal Profession and the Judiciary will be held on Monday 11 March 2024 at Albert Street Uniting Church, 319 Albert Street, Brisbane.
Procession gathers at 9:15am outside of the Church and commences at 9:25am, with the service to begin at 9:30am.
